Discover how DigiFarmer is advancing climate-smart agriculture across East Africa through soil health improvement, organic inputs adoption, and carbon-ready farming systems. Learn how digital agriculture is helping smallholder farmers improve productivity, reduce emissions, and build climate-resilient food systems.
The DigiFarmer platform continues to advance climate-smart agriculture through targeted soil health pilot projects across five key agricultural districts. These pilots focus on helping farmers improve soil fertility, moisture retention, and long-term land productivity using sustainable soil management practices and organic inputs. Early results are already showing improved soil moisture levels and increased crop yields, helping farmers maintain stable production even during changing weather patterns. By combining digital advisory tools with on-ground extension support, DigiFarmer is helping farmers adopt practical, cost-effective climate-smart farming methods.
In addition, groundwork is underway to develop a carbon credit program that will create future income opportunities for farmers practicing sustainable agriculture. This includes soil carbon baseline assessments, farmer training, and digital farm activity tracking. As demand grows for low-carbon and traceable agricultural supply chains, DigiFarmer is positioning smallholder farmers to benefit from emerging green agriculture markets.
