For millions of smallholder farmers, access to finance is not simply about getting a loan. The bigger challenge is building the infrastructure that allows money to move transparently between farmers, agents, suppliers and financial institutions. This month marked an important step for DigiFarmer. During wallet testing, our technology team successfully processed a UGX 200,000 transfer from a Wallet Transaction into a user payment account. Lawrence Kawalya and the development team have since been working on payment-account integration, approvals and transaction workflows. At the same time, our model is deliberately moving toward connecting farmers with banks and financing partners rather than simply lending from our own balance sheet. The opportunity is bigger than digital payments. We are building the financial rails on which rural agricultural commerce can operate.
